The Creative Jazz Organization currently associated with WBGO Jazz 88.3 FM, New York, has existed for over 30 years in various locations in New York City and WBGO in Newark, New Jersey with Gary Walker for over 25 years circa 2004. CJO sponsors scholarships for young jazz performance music majors and holds weekly jam sessions at MANHATTAN PROPER (217th and Linden Boulevard, in Queens) every Wednesday at 8:00 PM. There is a small cover charge for admission. I stop in and play whenever time allows. The venue is Straight Ahead Jazz.
