Wayne Raglan, a lifetime NY musician and blues/jazz guitarist will be
conducting a clinic at Sam Ash music on Thursday November 16th at 7:30pm.Sam
Ash Music is located at 113-25 Queens Blvd in Forest Hills.
Raglan has been playing guitar since age 9 and purchased his first professional
guitar at age 13, which he still owns. Raglan has performed at the legendary
NY club the blue note as well. Wayne has also played with many other accomplished
artists from the Dizzy Gillespie band to Chrissie Hinds & the Pretenders
to Ben E. King just to name a few.
This Workshop is part of a series of workshops being conducted at the Sam
Ash Music stores in celebration of the Eddie Durham 100th anniversary Guitars.
Eddie Durham was one the pioneers of electric guitar playing. Eddie Durham
was the first guitarist to develop and recorded on an amplified guitar.
Durham was also the author of many of Count Basie's hits. At this particular
workshop, Wayne Raglan will be concentrating on the highlights of Eddie
Durham’s career, including his Induction into the American Jazz Hall
of Fame in 1987 and his work with The Harlem Blues And Jazz Band, which
Wayne performs with regularly.
Also, this workshop will cover jazz composition and the history of jazz
and blues.
