Production Art, The Pieta Concerto, December 2004

The Pieta Concerto now planned for late 2005 was an idea born from seeing the artwork many years ago when it was on tour in New York.* At that time, so many people came to see it, (Michelangelo's Pieta) that the Metropolitan Museum of Art only gave you a short glimpse before rushing you off so that someone else could "get a glimpse!" The only way to really study this amazing artwork, short of examining the original, is in a photograph. Fortunately, there are many..(even though there's nothing like the real thing, is there?)

*As you might imagine, an idea for music starts in year "x", the music may be composed in year "y" and not get actually recorded until year "z"; while the release for the audience may not happen for some time after that! The internet allows us to expose the audience to works in progress in a way previously unavailable.
